Joined by Calvin, Eli, and Scott,
Timothy, David, and Paul,
And together when the sun came up,
They had torn down the accursed wall.

[Chorus]When its time to stand up,
To set things right,
The whole world waist deep in trouble,
Never doubt or question the power of love,
And one woman with a shovel.

--Carrie Newcomer, "One Woman and a Shovel," on the album _Wilderness Plots_.

This song is based on a story in the book _Wilderness Plots_, and the album, by the same name, is a collaborative work by several singer-songwriters.

The story of this song is that a canal was planned, and a dam built to provide water for it. However, the stagnant water led to a plague of mosquitoes and malaria. One of the townspeople, Martha, decided she was going to knock down that dam if she had to do it herself with nothing but a hoe and shovel. However, she got help--first the other women, then the men.

David, David dansaba en la presencia del SeƱor,
Y el pueblo se regocijaba

(Which means
David, David danced in the presence of the Lord,
And the people rejoiced)

A song from when Fabian and I attended a Spanish church

for Sandra ...

Once in Royal David's city
Stood a lowly cattle shed
Where a mother laid her baby
In a manger for His bed.
Mary was that mother mild
Jesus Christ her little child.

Now one hundred years have passed since the Captain and his men
went down to spend their days
in Davy Jones's den

The Whale - can't remember who sang it, sorry, but it's a good song

Don't be using internet searches to get this stuff; it's against the rules. Play by memory. Anyone could do internet.

====================

Oh what's that blood that's on your sleeve
Hi,son David, Ho, son David...

(A variant of a Child ballad called "Edward.")

Sandra, if you are speaking to me:

I had the song from memory, then listened to the CD, and give the artist's website so that other people could access a rather obscure song. Carrie Newcomer is local to me, and has a national following, but she is not well known.

Don't. Don't cut and paste. Don't use internet. It ruins the game. It's not just one person.

If you want to make a research or cut'n'paste game, make one somewhere else. I would come and play! But it's not what this game is.

...and he's talkin' to Davy, who's still in the Navy, and probably will be for life...

Billy Joel - "Piano Man"
I'm surprised that no one posted that yet!
