Gully, gulch, arroyo

Any word for one of those things that only has water in it when there's runoff from rain.

Then they lost him for a moment where two mountain gullies met
in the ranges, but a final glimpse reveals
on a dim and distant hillside the wild horses racing yet,
with the man from Snowy River at their heels.

The Man From Snowy River - sung by Slim Dusty, from the poem of the same name by A B (Banjo) Patterson.

The Cowboy's Lullaby
Desert silvery moom beneath the pale starlight,
Coyotes yappin' lazy on the hill,
Sleepy winds a-driftin' to the far skyline,
Time for millin' cattle to be still.

Chorus:
So, now, the lightnin's far away.
The coyote's nothing skeery,
Just singin' to his dearie,
Yea, ho, I'm on a holiday,
So settle down ye cattle 'til the mornin'.

Nothin' out there on the plains that you folks need,
Nothin' there that seems to take your eye.
Still, you gotta watch 'em, or they'll all stampede,
Plungin' down some 'rroyo bank to die.

Chorus
