"Let 'em sweat a little;
They'll never know;
Besides, we just cleaned the chrome."
Said the plumber,
"Then I'm goin' alone."

To explain those lyrics by Harry Chapin a little bit--the story song is about a plumber who is part of a volunteer fire department, and about a building filled with hippies and minority group members, all poor people, that catches on fire.

Well, I guess you know what happened;
God, I've never been so clean.
. . . .
It took another man's wife
In the real world life
To make this boy a man.

[This is actually from a poem, but the name of the poem is "Song for a Fifth Child.]

Cleaning and scrubbing can wait for tomorrow
But babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs; dust, go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
