A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way

They've got a wall in China
It's a thousand miles long
To keep out the foreigners
They made it strong
And I've got a wall around me
That you can't even see
It took a little time
To get next to me

Seven, that's the time we leave, at seven
I'll be coming home to heaven
Counting every mile
Of railroad track
That brings me back.

Every mile a memory
Every song another scene
From some old movie going back in time to you and me

It's three miles to the river
That would carry me away

And two miles to the dusty street
That I saw you on today

It's four miles to my lonely room
Where I will hide my face

And about a half a mile to the downtown bar
That I ran from in disgrace

Sylvia, good! Thanks! I was vaguely thinking of that yesterday and couldn't place it.

Eight miles high
And when you touch down
You'll find that it's stranger than now

Two days ago Holly told me that on the Oldies station she had heard a version of Mr. Tambourine Man that didn't suck. I said "Probably The Byrds." I dug out my Byrds Greatest Hits album and put it on the turntable, and so heard this too!

Hey Shanona,

It's from a band called The Plimsouls and you might remember the song from the movie Valley Girls. They were the band in the nightclub.
