I'll be carried to a new jail tomorrow
Leaving my poor darling alone

(my mom sang it and I don't have another source, though she very likely learned it from a '78, or from her mom maybe, who also knew a lot of songs)

The warden threw a party in the county jail.
The prison band was there and they began to wail.

So here we are
In the Tijuana jail
Ain't got no friends
To go our bail
So here we'll stay
'Cause we can't pay
Just send our mail
To the Tijuana jail

the sheriff's on my trail
And if he catches up with me I'll spend my life in jail

"Friend of the Devil," The Grateful Dead

(Hmmm.... I hadn't thought of songs that rhymed sail/jail/trail...)

They arrested me and they put me in jail
And called my pappy to throw my bail
And he said, "Son, you're gonna' drive me to drinkin'
If you don't stop drivin' that Hot Rod Lincoln!"

Recorded by Commander Cody and the Airmen

it's one of my Dad's favorite oldies
