What do they got? A lot of sand!
We got a hot crustacean band
Each little clam here
Know how to jam here
Under the sea

I am a man upon the land
I am a silkie in the sea

Joan Baez sang a version; traditional ballad about a selkie--a seal that can take human form, and they live, if they live, between Scotland and Iceland and come up on all the islands and have sex with people. That's what I would've said if I'd been a Faroe Islands kid and gotten pregnant in 1350. "Jeez, daddy, it musta been a selkie!"

Off the coast of Austraila
I dove way down deep
For all I could see of that Great Barrier Reef
It was nothing
Compared to you it was nothing

"The Glass Bottom Boat" (from the movie of the same name) sung by Doris Day:

The deep blue sea, the deep blue sea
There's a lot to see in the deep blue sea
The glass bottom boat, you will agree
Can show you the magic of the deep blue sea

Oh I wish I was a fishy in the brook
Oh I wish I was a fishy in the brook
I'd go swimming with my cutie
And without my bathing suitie
Oh I wish I was a fishy in the brook

The turtle wished that it could fly
Way up high into the sky
Over rooftops and then dive
Deep into the sea

And in the sea there is a fish
A fish that has a secret wish
A wish to be a big cactus
With a pink flower on it

Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

Fishy,fishy in the brook
Daddy caught it with a hook
Mommy fried it in a pan
And baby ate it as fast as she can.

They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No-one you see, is smarter than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
Flying there-under, under the sea!

~Flipper theme song.
I loved that show :)

Sandra Dodd said...

We had a dog named Flipper, because of that show! TV shows used to have wonderful themesongs. Now... ih.

Bobbing along
On the bottom of the
Beautiful briney sea...

(I know it from a Disney sing-along tape from when Kirby was little. From "Bednobs and Broomsticks"? but I never saw the movie.)

It's a beehive of buddin' son and daughter life,
Every family has plans in view.
Even down in the brook, the underwater life
Is forever blowin' bubbles too.

Underwater moonlight sets the body free.
Underwater moonlight baby you and me.
Underwater moonlight.
He was pink and she was pink and onward they did row.
Didn't see the giant squid though, it was fairly slow.
When they hit the bottom they were well and truly dead.
The statues took their place and then they rowed back home instead.

I think those are all the sung words in the whole seven minute or however long thing--the rest is recitation, but the sung part repeats long enough to have satisfied stoners of 1968. Or so I hear.
