Jingle bells, Batman smells,
Robin laid an egg.
Batmobile lost its wheel
And Joker got away! Hey!

Traditional?
I couldn't resist.

Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Camelot.
He was not afraid to die,
O brave Sir Robin!
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin!

Robin Hood and Little John
walkin' through the forest
laughin' back and forth
at what the other had to say
Reminiscin' this and that
and havin' such a good time
Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, golly what a day

from Disney's "Robin Hood", sung by Roger Miller

Lily, I could send a paper copy of Ah Robyn if you want to send me an address.

Like to a friar bold Robin Hood
Was dressed in his array
With hood, gown beads and crucifix
He walked along his way...

Deep in the Hundred-Acre Wood
Where Christopher Robin plays
You'll find the enchanted neighborhood
Of Christopher's childhood days...

Robin in the rain
Such a saucy fellow
Robin in the rain
With your beak of yellow

A Raffi song

Robin B. said...

When the red, red robin
Goes bob, bob, bobbin' along, along
There'll be no more sobbin'
When he starts throbbin' his own sweet song

Don't know the singer or the writer, but I grew up with plenty of people singing it when I was around...

Robin Hood, Robin Hood, riding through the glen.
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, with his band of men.
Feared by the bad, loved by the good.
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Robin Hood.

I don't know which Robin Hood this is from, but it's the first thing that came to my mind.

Who killed cock robin?
Who killed cock robin?
I said the sparrow with my little bow and arrow
And it's I killed cock robin.

Very old, odd song

So help me if you can I've got to get
Back to the house at Pooh Corner by one
You'd be surprised there's so much to be done
Count all the bees in the hive
Chase all the clouds from the sky
Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh

'Twas in the forest of Sherwood, in the year twelve hundred and ten, lived a pusher by the name of Robin Head and his band of very merry men.

A spoof English folk song of the 1970s. Don't recall who wrote it. A guy by the name of Mike Harding possibly. I'm curious myself about that, so I'll Google it.

Bob Collier said...

Apparently it was written by a guy called Keith Christmas in the late 1960s.

But while there is a merry man
In Robin's wiley pack
We'll find a way to make him pay
Ahd steal our money back
