Church

Okay... church or chapel. Let's be ecumenical and allow synagogue, mosque, temple... No groves or sweatlodges. Real building of big scary religion. Or stick with church, if raggedy-edged rules disturb you.

On "Door," two posts down, I'm working on a playlist. It's here:http://sandradodd.com/music/door and in the list in the sidebar, and you can get to it by clicking one of those doors on the post. Doors to doors to doors...

All around the cathedral the saints and apostles
Look down as she sells her wares
Although you can't see it you know they are smiling
Every time someone shows that he cares

Going to the chapel and we're gonna get married, going to the chapel and we're gonna get married.

I don't know what it's called, or who does it, but the tune is solidly in my brain :)

"...no spot is so dear to my childhood, as the little brown church in the vale..."

"Little Brown Church in the Vale"
sung by lots of people lots of times, but I'm thinking specifically of a country singer, male, singing it. Maybe Alan Jackson.

The best day of the year
Little Matty Groves to church did go
Some holy words to hear
Some holy words to hear

(Matty Groves, an exciting traditional English ballad with church and then sex and then much bloody death)

I went to church last Sunday
So I could sing and pray
But something quite unusual
Happened on that day.
