Intro, hello! and comments about the game

UPDATE summer 2008

Summary of current rules and practices:
I put up a word overnight, usually.
Play once and wait for another turn, on the new/current word. Once someone else plays, you can play again.

Older words, play all you want.

If you play twice on the new word, sit out until two people have played.

If you make a typo or error, post a new one and then delete the old one. A moderator will delete your trashcan/notice later.

OLDER INTRO AND NOTES:

There's a game called Encore, described here and thereabout: http://sandradodd.com/game/crazyboard. You don't need to buy a copy to play, but after playing around with the concept you might want to, so read about it at http://sandradodd.com/music and look for a used original or new new version.

We have played that game lots, and my request for my birthday is already for people to come play Encore.

We never use the game board, we just dredge through our minds for songs containing the word or meeting the criteria. Usually we play in two teams, but for playing online, anyone can contribute the passage of lyrics containing the qualifying word or phrase, and by game rules it should be at least eight words long.

We don't need the whole song, and you don't even have to identify the song if you don't want to (especially if it's fairly well known).

Don't use an internet search. Then it's not a game anymore. Do it from memory. I think you'll find you're scanning your mind in whole new ways.

I don't mind people playing on old words gone by, but I'll try to remember to put up new ones.

LATER NOTES:

My vague guide as been that if there are 20 posts or 12 hours have gone by, it's okay to put up a new word. A couple of times I've put up a new word because it didn't seem the current word would get 20 posts. Thusfar I've posted two or fewer posts per day. Suggestions are welcome, either here or to Sandra@SandraDodd.com

Here's a place for discussing the game: lyricsgamediscussion.blogspot.com The first post there is a question about how your mind flows to find these lyrics. If you have ideas, please post them there (no matter how long after July 19 you're reading this).
